Welcome. Before you can gain access to the University and Internet networks, you must: 1) have your computer scanned to ensure up-to-date patch installation, and 2) register your computer. Until these two tasks are complete, your computer will not have access to email, the web, etc.

Step 1

Your computer must be scanned to ensure that critical patches are installed. Running the scan involves downloading and running a utility (link below). To run this utility, there are two requirements:

  • you must be logged on to your computer as a user with 'administrative' rights.
  • cookies must be enabled on Internet Explorer. This is a default setting so you shouldn't need to check this.

Follow the directions on the scan tool. If the scan shows that you are missing required patches, you will be directed to install these patches by connecting to the Microsoft Update site. You will then need to rerun the scan tool.
